Cave Painting Conservation Trials

  • Aug 2, 2018
  • 1 min read

We had another trip into the Caves this week, as we work towards re-opening in 2019. Attendees included our volunteer photographer Frank Leppard photography – thanks for the great images Frank! – and paintings conservator Rob Smith, who is looking at how best to look after our extensive wall paintings.

Rob has previously worked on conservation projects for a wealth of organisations including the National Trust and Historic Royal Palaces. He was a finalist in the English Heritage Angel Awards for Best Craftsmanship in 2012 and his work at Painshill Park’s Crystal Grotto has won numerous awards. Our cave paintings are in good hands!

Rob will write us a Conservation Management Plan and, while we plan to get Stage 1 of works underway before opening in 2019, conserving the paintings will be an ongoing and long-term project.

What a wonderful post to read! It’s truly heartwarming to see such care being taken to preserve these beautiful, historic paintings. It actually reminds me of the gentle restoration we did on our own old house last year. We were quite nervous about getting it right, but we were so grateful to work with professionals from KB Home https://kb-home.pissedconsumer.com/review.html who helped guide the renovation with real sensitivity to the home’s history. They turned a potentially overwhelming process into a genuinely positive and collaborative journey.

It conveys a strong sense of commitment to preservation, particularly through the involvement of a professional conservator dedicated to Retro Bowl 26 safeguarding the fragile wall paintings.

The moment you score in basketball stars, the vibrant effects instantly make you feel like you are performing in a grand arena. It’s an exciting detail that enhances the fun and competitiveness of the game.
