MESSY MONDAY
25 May, 10-4.30

May Bank Holiday = Messy Monday at the Caves!
It's also World Bee Day on 20 May and our favourite tiny residents, the little Yellow-Legged Mining Bees, have returned to our sunny garden in time to celebrate.
So bring your little buzzers along for stripy, bee-tastic crafts for just £1.50 per child.
No need to book, just drop in and join the hive 🐝

The exhibition appears in the Margaret Bryan Gallery, a space named after one of Britain’s pioneering women in science education, who lived on the Caves site in the 18th Century. Margaret ran a boarding school here for young women, teaching astronomy and the sciences, a radical pursuit at the time. Our gallery will continue in the spirit of providing inspiration in an accessible space.
THE MECHANICAL ELEPHANT & Other Linocuts by Hugh Ribbans
Until 5 July, 10-5
An exhibition of linocuts featuring images with a Margate, Kentish or seaside connection. Mostly black and white, Ribbans' prints exhibit detailed cutting that explores narrative, pattern and line.
A Mermaid dances with fish! Margate’s Mechanical Elephant is remembered, as is Dreamland’s Wall of Death, the Chairoplane ride and a lady selling sea shells.
Canterbury’s historic steam Crab and Winkle line is celebrated with Mr Cushing’s favourite Whitstable walk. Fish and chips are enjoyed on the beach. There’s a map of Margate and a tribute to the town’s renowned stargazer and educator Margaret Bryan.
Each piece will be available for sale. Entry to the gallery is free, standard rates apply for entry to the Caves below ground.
