Artists are invited to create original postcard-sized artworks to feature in an exhibition and auction of work by new and internationally-acclaimed artists, illustrators and designers. The profits from all sales will support the reopening of theMargate Caves.
Reflecting the mysteries of the Caves, postcards will be exhibited with the artist’s name kept secret. Past exhibitors in the annual Margate event (which has supported a range of charities) include Tracey Emin, Grayson Perry, Paul Hazelton, Quentin Blake, Zandra Rhodes Vic Reeves, and Dawn Cole.
All work should be A6 postcard sized, 105 × 148 millimeters or 4.13 × 5.83 inches. All work should be signed on the reverse, not on the front.
Mail postcards to Margate Caves, ℅ Dan Thompson Studio, Marine Studios, 17 Albert Terrace, Margate, Kent CT9 1UJ. All work should be received by Monday 31st July.
Please include any details which you would like to be included in the catalogue and given to the work’s purchaser. We won’t print full biographies alongside works in the catalogue but will include a list of links to websites or social media at the back of the catalogue.
All work will be exhibited from Friday 8th-Saturday 16th September 2017 at the Harbour Arm Gallery, Margate (on the Harbour Arm adjacent to Turner Contemporary). 50-100 works will be auctioned, with works above this for sale at a set price. A small selection of works will be sold online.
With thanks to Fiona Sherriff at the Margate Harbour Arm and the Canterbury Auction Galleries.

You will gain a better understanding of where to jump, when to hold, and when to release it with each attempt. It may feel like progress retro bowl is moving slowly, but if you keep trying, you will realize that you are making progress.
This is such a fantastic initiative - I love the idea of the artist's name staying a secret until after the sale. It really puts the focus on the artwork itself. I actually took part in something similar a few years ago and was so nervous about how my little postcard would photograph for the online gallery listings! Getting the lighting right for such small pieces can be tricky; I found this guide on https://skylum.com/blog/best-lighting-for-indoor-photography super helpful for making the colours and details pop without any glare. It’s such a wonderful way to support the Margate Caves, and I can't wait to see all the incredible work that gets submitted
I sometimes get frustrated with geometry dash lite because a single touch on a spike destroys me and sends me back to the beginning.
Geometry Dash teaches you to memorize obstacle patterns, so don’t get discouraged if you fail repeatedly. Every attempt helps you understand where to jump, when to hold, and when to release. Progress might feel slow, but the improvement is noticeable if you keep trying.
