Fancy going on an underground trail to find elephants, crocodiles and deer? Young visitors to the Margate Caves can embark on an entertaining cave quest this summer and learn about conservation and the environment as they explore. The trail is part of range of activities the Margate Caves is running throughout the summer holidays to celebrate our wonderful world, including creative arts and crafts for little learners in the Margate Caves Community Rooms.
The range of arts and crafts available will include constructing ‘seed bombs’, rock-painting, making prints with items of nature and rustling up bird feeders. The crafts will run from 11am to 4pm on Mondays and Thursdays from 2 to 26August and will cost £1 per child, payable at the door, or available to book online. The quest is free for those who already have a ticket to access the Caves.

I took my kids to the caves a few summers ago, and they adored the nature print craft activity. It actually inspired a fun project at home. I later found the Brother phone number to ask about their home printers, which are great for printing out the photos we take of our crafts or extra coloring sheets. Having an easy way to print at home lets us extend that creative, relaxed feeling from your lovely event into our own kitchen on rainy days.
Guided tours often bring the underground to life with stories, Slither io lights, and hands-on explanations that make geology fun and easy to understand.
